Vijay Motors Pvt. Ltd. was established in 1998 for the sole distributorship for General Motors for Nepal. VMPL was able to break into what was a Japanese vehicle dominated market at that time and steadily captured a substantial part of the automobile market from 1999 to 2013. The company had 11 models in its stable of products many of which can still be seen on the roads today. The models ranged from the 1000 cc Chevrolet Spark, to the 1200 cc UVA, the 1400 and 1600 CC Aveo, the 1600 cc Optra, the 2.5 Turbo diesel Tavera, the 2.0 liter SUV from Korea – the Captiva and the 2.0 Liter Cruz.

VMPL was known for its personalized customer care and earned a reputation for providing reliable and efficient after sales services to its customers. Vijay Motors had its own 3S facility located in the heart of the city and employed over 80 people in sales, customer care and after – sales. VMPL stopped selling Chevrolet’s in 2013 when GM pulled out of all export markets from Asia eg. Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka.
